Besides Yoga, traveling is a big part of my life. Robert had a family reunion in Norway (his family is from Germany) and I was stunned by the beauty of that country.
Amazing hikes, beautiful landscapes and great people. It is a very expensive country to be in so we had a rental house and we cooked most of our meals and packed lots of sandwiches for the days on the road.
Our Norwegian house. From there, most of his family went off to fish all day long.
Oh and the view was spectacular.
We did day trips to villages and towns around us and whenever I could, I did some yoga with my mother-in-law. I love she found a studio in her hometown and is very committed to her practice.
I had no idea what to expect from this trip but in the end it turned out to be some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
Ålesund was the biggest town close to where we stayed and walking around its little streets and going up the mountain to see the view was very pleasant.
People are very active in Norway. It seemed to me that everyone was hiking or biking or kaiaking or even skiking (I had never seen that before). Although the house was very inviting, the outside was way better. We took our chances and brought 3 kids (11, 7 and 4 years old) to a 3,7 km hike. They all did great, although my daughter (the 4 year old) who walked all the way up, slept on her grandpa's shoulders no the way down :)
Oslo was very interesting. Lots of museums and parks. the most impressing thing to see is definitely the Sculpture Park. I loved the fact that the artist wanted to portray the human figures so that they would be timeless. Definitely a must see.
Now it's back to life at home. Back to the yoga mat.
