It's 2020 and instead of saying I'm going to start writing something, I will actually write. No matter what. I'm past caring about what people will say or think because it is absolutely impossible to please everyone.

One of my problems is that my mind is all over the place most of the time. I think of things ranging from what will I have for lunch to what would the world look like if humans were unable to lie. Have you ever thought about that? Can you imagine a world where people could absolutely not say anything but the truth? The whole justice system would be pointless. Judge: "Sir did you kill this man?" Yes or no would be the answer. No lawyers or jury needed. Whatever you say goes...it would be amazing, right? But then I read the book Sapiens and in it, Dr. Harari says (very wisely I must add, the book is great, read it now if you haven't yet) that the world as we live in would not exist if we were not able to make up stories and believe in them. Countries, companies, religion, myths, and many other things that are now part of our daily lives, started as things we have to believe in so they can exist. And when you look at it from this perspective, maybe it is ok that we can embellish and twist the truth.

Anyway...my point now is: a calendar is nothing but a construction, a belief. The one we use to name this year "2020" was put into place and named after Julius Caesar and then tweaked into the Gregorian calendar, which is what we use today. Speaking of which, have you ever heard of the Tranquility Calendar? It is a calendar that has the moon landing as its beginning. It has 13 28-day months all named after scientists. It seems pretty cool to me to use a calendar based on the moon rather than one based on religious belief, but here I am losing focus again...

Back to it: it's January 2nd, 2020 and we can believe in things and therefore we can achieve said things. As such, I've come to realize that my beliefs are the ties that hold me down from achieving what I want to reach. Not to get too woo-woo about it, just believe me (haha, see what I did there?).  New year or not, dream and manifest but also, pull up your sleeves and DO something. Something scary, something silly, something that might take a long time to finish, something difficult, something easy, something you'll be proud of, something you will regret, something out of your comfort zone or something right up your ally, but just put something out there!

And this is what I just did: blog entry #1, here you are!
