Pandemic

The world is changing.

And not in the slow evolution way we were used to.

The world changed from one week to another.

All of a sudden it was bye-bye school, bye-bye restaurants, parties, concerts, sports, travel, and the list goes on and on.

The world is changing because we are trying to save lives.

The world is changing because we are fighting an invisible but very real threat.

Now all are experts in curve flattening, social distancing, and hand washing.

We are now stuck in this limbo.

We know the world will keep on turning but we're not sure what we will be doing as it turns.

I think it's safe to say that as a collective, we were not very proud of the panorama we had.

Now we were forced to stop.

Now we can put things into perspective.

Now what?

I want to spend my days in quarantine picturing the world we will have after all this.

And this is what I wish happens:

People will work less and watch the sunset more;

People will be more with their kids and teach them things they wish they had learned;

People will have less and be content;

People will have time to hear their elders and chat with friends;

People will long for walks in nature and human connection;

And while all that is happening, the planet will breathe.

And animal meat consumption will lower.

And hopefully, people that build things and people that teach will be more appreciated, instead of being devoured by the Economy.

I hope we have:

Collaboration instead of exploitation;

Knowledge instead of ignorance;

Compassion instead of profit;

Confidence instead of fear;

Love instead of hate.

This is my wish, that all this suffering isn't wasted.

That all of this is not in vain.

All I can do is hope for now.

While I stay in and long for better days.
