The importance of writing it down

As I started my first post on goals, new cycles and what I want to achieve this year, I'd like to talk about the importance of writing those things down. I once watched a video of a Swami talking about the significance of the intention we put into the words when we write them down. He said something like this: imagine a child making a drawing for her parents. That piece of paper becomes very important to her because it's where their child put her love and effort into. That piece of paper becomes then, invaluable.  Same with a love letter or a famous painting. We put value into it.

As Neuroscience explains it, when I sit to write down the things I want to achieve, they become more powerful because now they have a shape and form. It's not just random thoughts running around in my head. Writing my goals down also forces me to sit, think and make a clear picture in my head of what I want, and as I put the words on paper, it gets stored longer in my memory. And once they are written, I get reminded of those every time I read them.

So, it's written down now: this year I want to make more time to write and hopefully get better at it.
